fall 2011 wardrobe wish list

I'm obsessed with sites like pinterest and polyvore. Here are some items that have shown up over and over again and I might die if I don't own them come fall.

- tailored black blazer. A favorite of my fashion queen Rachel Bilson, it adds a casual class and elegance to any outfit. I especially like it when paired with skinny jeans, embellished tank and black flats.

- wedges. It's hard to pull off heels in daily college life, but wedges are casual enough that they're acceptable for almost any occasion. The height and style of heels without the glamour. Also, much more stable!

- feather earrings. Okay, maybe I didn't need the feather to fly. But that doesn't mean I don't want it.

- nude pumps. Thank you, Duchess Kate, for single handedly bringing back the nude heel. They're so classy and elegant, I can't even stand it. Not to mention versatile!

- colored skinny jeans. I remember as well as anyone the rise and fall of the electric colored skinny jeans, how quickly the hot pink came and how quickly the electric blue fell. But this season is all about coral, canary yellow, navy blue. It's a very naval color palate and I'm in love with it.

- pink/orange/coral make up kit. Think Sarah Walker in Chuck. She's gorgeous with her flawless fair skin, light blonde hair and eyeshadow and lip gloss in all the colors of frozen yogurt. It's not especially flattering on a brunette, but I'm not a brunette anymore!

- Betsey Johnson perfume. My bottle didn't survive the trip out east. What's a wolf without a pack? What's a girl without her signature scent?

It wasn't a hundred times, but it's still pretty tragic.

Okay, so Amy Winehouse was a hot mess. No one is going to argue that. But does it get much better than Back to Black? I think not. It's one of the best break up jams of all time. I have, more than once, been caught sitting in my car, blaring it and pretending not to cry.

Here's to a... Well, not exactly a legend, but someone with some amazing pipes.

Also, because the Winchesters are always relevant:

Cass vs. Buddy Holly

So, Washington DC, you really have a lot going for you. I mean it! There's that nation's capital thing, and the not 120 degrees (usually) and the pretty green, and A+ on all those monuments. I've really loved spending my summer with you!

But listen, DC. Where I'm from we have cacti and In-N-Out, and you know what else we have?

HIPSTERS.

I hail from a nice little place called Tempe, Arizona. Some know it as the valley of the sundress and the low rise jean, but not me. To me, Tempe is a magical land where everywhere you look, it's skinny jeans and rompers. You can't throw a stick without hitting an English or Political Science major. And you know what else is great about Tempe, Arizona?

These bad boys.

That's right. In our valley, we understand that you are only as good as your best pair of fake glasses. It's a trend that I'm convinced was started by my girl Jess way back our sophomore year of high school, but it's not just us anymore.

See? Even Jennifer Aniston is on board. And when I can find a picture of Rachel Bilson rocking the fake nerd glasses, you'd best believe I'll be posting it.

So here's the deal, Mr. Washington if that is your real name. I won't hold it against you that you're a bit behind the times. I like you anyway!

But if I keep getting these sideways glances at Target while I'm picking up more Covergirl Lip Sensation, we're gonna have words.

I'll be justifying my way to the pearly gates.

Okay, okay, so I'm not the most budget conscious person ever. Even my six year old cousin judges my shopping technique of throwing everything that catches my eye in the cart to be sorted through later. But you know what? The heart wants what the heart wants.

And my heart wants that new lipstick. And the peppermint tea. And with my new dye job, it would be more wasteful to NOT buy new shampoo and conditioner to prolong and protect my color!

you had it in you the whole time, Dumbo!

They always say to write what you want to read, right? Well my favorite thing to read is the blog's of twenty something girls who are trying to maneuver through life with wit and class despite crippling insecurities and self doubt.

So here goes nothin.
